Our Society Objectives
Are To Promote
- the hobby of Stamp Collecting,
- the study of Postage Stamps,
- and the study of Postal History
Postage Stamps
Some collectors choose particular countries and/or time periods. This can be further broken down into airmail, commemorative, postage due and definitive which is the most common type of stamp.
Topical
Many choose to organize their philatelic collection on the theme of the stamps, covers, or postmarks. Popular topical themes are animals, dogs, cats, butterflies, birds, flowers, art, sports, Olympics, maps and Disney.
Postal History
The study of the use of postage stamps, covers and associated postal artifacts illustrating historical episodes in the development of postal systems. It is possible to be a philatelist without owning any stamps. For instance, the stamps being studied may be very rare, or reside only in museums.
